Travel & Lodging
For those of you from out of town, we are so excited to welcome you to our beloved New Haven — the city where we met, where we spent four years together, and where many loved ones are from (including Sam’s grandmother, Merle).
Getting there
Wedding Venue: Lighthouse Point
2 Lighthouse Rd
New Haven, CT 06512
Shuttles will run from downtown New Haven to Lighthouse Point on Saturday. All other wedding weekend events will take place within walking distance in downtown New Haven.
Traveling to New Haven
From Boston: The drive from Boston tends to be 2-2.5 hours and New Haven has ample parking. If you’re feeling the vibe, you can also take the Amtrak from South Station to New Haven Union Station, a trip Sam has done hundreds of times. Be sure to sit on the left side of the train (from Boston to New Haven) for beautiful views of the Long Island Sound.
From New York City: The drive from New York tends to be 1.5-2.5 hours and New Haven has ample parking. Alternatively, the Metro North train from Grand Central Station to New Haven Union Station is $17-23 and extremely convenient. The Amtrak from Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station to New Haven Union Station is a little faster and a bit more comfortable, and ranges anywhere from $17-$75 depending on how far in advance you book it.
From other parts of the country/world: Generally speaking, there are four ways to fly to New Haven, each with their pros and cons:
Flying to New Haven: New Haven has a charming airport, Tweed New Haven (HVN), which is a 7 minute drive or Lyft/Uber to our venue and an 11 minute drive or Lyft/Uber to Downtown New Haven, where our hotels will be located. There are a limited number of cities with direct flights to/from New Haven, and it is worth checking whether there is an affordable flight just for the ease.
Flying to New York City: Flights to JFK, La Guardia, or Newark Airport offer the ability to rent a car and drive to New Haven, or take the subway or a Lyft/Uber to Grand Central Station or Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station to take a train to New Haven Union Station. See the “From New York City” section above for more details. Additionally, Newark Airport has an Amtrak stop (Newark, NJ - Liberty International Airport) and you can book an Amtrak ticket to New Haven Union Station.
Flying to Boston: There are two ways to get to New Haven from Boston’s Logan Airport. You can rent a car or take the SL1 Silver Line Bus, which picks up from the airport arrivals section, to Boston’s South Station and catch the Amtrak to New Haven from there. See the “From Boston” section above for more details.
Flying to Hartford: Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT is a 45-60 minute drive from New Haven. We’d recommend you rent a car, but you can book an expensive Lyft/Uber instead if you prefer.
